Donald Robert McCloud passed away in his residence in Guyton, Ga., on March 10, 2008, with his family. He was a native of Terre Haute. He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Wanda McCloud; his father and mother, Lester and Emma McCloud, three sisters, Catherine Williams, Mary Smith, and Margret Allsup; a brother, Jack McCloud; two grandchildren, Tony McCloud and Rhonda McCloud; two nephews, Donnie Williams and Bobby Smith; life long friends, Bill Booker and his wife Joann, and John Schoemaker.

He is survived by four sons, Larry McCloud of Guyton, David McCloud, Danny McCloud and wife Sis, all of Terre Haute, and Darrell McCloud and wife Cathy of Stauton; three daughters, Nancy Reid and husband Frank, and Linda McCloud, all of Guyton, and Crystal Taylor of Springfield, Ga.; two sons-in-law, Chris Taylor and Mike Pittman; two sisters, Dorothy Nuss and Shirley Batchelor, both of Terre Haute; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends. He was a big part of all of their lives.

He was and is “loved” dearly. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1952, and loved to travel. He was in the construction trade. He also traveled with the fair. He was “always” out to make others happy; always playing jokes. He loved NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon, number 24.

He was a wonderful father who had a close relationship with each and everyone of his kids. A father who left more meaning to love, to have gatherings, kickback, have a beer and a big feast. Not only a father, but also a best friend.

“If my parting has left a void

then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too will miss!”

We love and will miss you Dad!

We know you will be happy.

Have a great eternity with Mom!

Graveside military services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 972 will be 1 p.m. today at Roselawn Memorial Park. Roselawn Funeral Home assisted in making the arrangements.
