She was born in Stamford, Connecticut, November 6, 1929 but lived in Bristol for more than 80 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Rouse L. Her church work included teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. She fulfilled a dream in her 40's to learn sign language, later teaching Sunday School and interpreting sermons for the hearing impaired at First Baptist Church.

Dorothy Fleenor had a lifelong love of learning, books, and nature. She was president of the Classic Review Study Club and presented book reviews to her club and others in Bristol. She received an award for over 1,000 hours of volunteer service as a counselor at the Bristol Crisis Center. She volunteered at the community pantry and Meals on Wheels. When she was no longer able to attend church, she served the Lord through prayer and "visiting" the sick through cards and calls. She was a friend to the friendless from childhood on.
