Dorothy Stewart Baker, 83 of North East, MD, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 in the Union Hospital of Cecil County, Elkton, MD.

Born in Bristol, VA, on July 18, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Charles G. and the late Claudine Hall Stewart. Mrs. Baker was the loving wife of James R. Baker of North East, MD. She retired as a secretary from Thompson Estates Elementary School, Elkton, MD after 26 years of service.

Mrs. Baker was a member of the Cecil County Secretaries Assoc., serving as past president and secretary. She studied music under Dr. Kriner at Sullins College, Bristol, VA; traveled with an ensemble from Euclid Avenue Baptist Church; and sang in several Bristol Community Choirs. She was an active Rotary-Ann with Elkton Rotary, helping entertain young GSE Team Members from all over the world. Mrs. Baker was a member of North East United Methodist Church, North East, MD, and was the Lead Delegate at the church conferences for the last 2 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: two brothers: Charles Stewart and his wife Karen of Conway, SC and Donald Stewart and his wife Lovie of Bristol, TN. She was also predeceased by a brother, Jack Stewart.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, December 9, 2007 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM, at Crouch Funeral Home, 127 South Main Street, North East, MD. Funeral services will be Monday, December 10, 2007 at 11:00 AM at North East United Methodist Church, 308 South Main Street, North East, MD. Rev. Daniel T. Gedman will officiate.

Interment will follow in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in memory of Mrs. Baker be sent to: The Youth Program of North East United Methodist Church, 308 South Main Street, North East, MD 21901.
