Dorothy Marie McFarland, 71, a resident of Friendship Manor in Lincoln, formerly of Wapella, died Thursday (July 29, 2004) at 11:41 a.m. at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Her funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Harold Driskell officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Sharon Cemetery at Ramsey.

She was retired from housekeeping at St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln.

She was born Dec. 3, 1932, at Zion to Walter Ross and Henrietta Marie Stocker Brooks. She was married to Melvin McFarland from Dec. 20, 1952, until 1981. He survives.

Family members are three sons, Larry (and Virginia) McFarland of Daly City, Calif., Jeff (and Johanna) McFarland of St. Louis, Mo., and J.R. (and Tajauna) McFarland of Lincoln; three daughters, Marie (and Steve) Cash of New Holland, Kelly Gonzales of Lincoln and Sue (and Jeff) Brummell of Lincoln; 25 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roy Brooks and Robert Brooks, both of Zion.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Walter.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Lincoln and the tenant council at Friendship Manor.
