Obituaries - Dr Michael Dea Andis

Michael Dea (Mike) Andis passed away on April 6, 2016 after a lengthy hard-fought illness from several major setbacks.

He was born on June 6, 1954 in Amarillo, Texas to Billie Joe (B.J.) and Bill R. Andis.

Michael graduated from Marsh and W. T. White High Scholl in Dallas. In 1976 he graduated with honors from Texas A&M with a degree in Entomology and immediately entered Louisiana State University on a Fellowship where he ultimately graduated with a Doctorate of Entomology with highest honors. For eleven years he was based in Brisbane, Australia where he was doing research on termites, cockroaches and mosquitos. Mike has had several papers in this research published. After research in the jungles of Bali, Thailand, China, Japan and all Asian countries and the Far East Mike returned to Dallas. Upon his return to Dallas he became a very valued employee of Home Depot for over fourteen years. He was employed by Home Depot upon his death.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, B.J. Andis in 2011 and his grandparents, Mabyn and Ralph Andis and Mae and Ray Pyron.

Michael is survived by his father, Bill Andis of Dallas; his daughter, Jessica Lea Andis of Brady, Texas and his four Cuadra cousins, Ana, Sandy, Enrique and Alfredo of Puerto Vallarta, Puebla and Aquascalientes, Mexico.

Visitation for Michael will be Friday, April 8, from 6 to 8 PM at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 9 at Walnut Hill Methodist Church, 10066 Marsh Lane, Dallas.

Entombment will follow at Restland Abbey Chapel in Dallas.
