Obituary - Earnest Arnold "Pug" Walker

Earnest Arnold Walker, 88, formerly of Altavista died Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Guggenheimer Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Estelle Pugh Walker.

He was born July 2, 1923 in Campbell County, a son of the late John J. Walker and Bessie Lee Garrett Walker. He was a member of Penuel Baptist Church and a retired employee of Klopman Mills with twenty-three years of service. Earnest served in the U. S. Army during WWII and the Korean War, was a member of the D.A.V. and V.F.W., Altavista Moose Lodge, and liked to fish and hunt.

He is survived by one daughter, Erma Walker Reynolds of Altavista; three sisters, Shirley W. Delk and her husband Richard of Richmond, Loretta W. Catlett of Lynchburg, and Hettie W. Myers and her husband Charles of Altavista; and one step-grandson, Bardon Jay Reynolds. He was preceded in death by a son, Earnest Edward Walker; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Reynolds.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Altavista Memorial Park by the Rev. Carlton Gunter with military honors by Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence of his sister, Hettie Myers, 392 Tardy Mt. Rd., Altavista.
