PIPPIN EDWARD HOWARD, 84, of Tampa, died Saturday (Feb. 23, 2002) at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa. He was born in Holston, Va. He entered the United States Army Air Corps in 1941 later transferring to the newly formed United States Air Force. He was a decorated veteran of World War II having served in the European Theatre of Operations and participating in the air missions over Germany. He retired from the Air Force in 1963 as a senior master sergeant after serving his country for more than 23 years. He settled in Tampa and worked for 16 years as building engineer at the Exchange National Bank of Tampa and then retired a second time to open his own business, Ed's Service and Repair which he owned and operated until 1987. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and raising bees. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lorraine; a son, Michael Pippin, Jacksonville; two daughters, Ginny Yanson, Wesley Chapel, and Kay Pippin Uchiyama, Boulder, Colo.; and one grandson. PIPPIN, Edward Howard, 84, of Tampa passed away Saturday, February 23, 2002 at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa with his devoted at his side. Ed was born in Holston, Virgina in 1917. He entered the United States Army Air Corps in 1941 later transferring to the newly formed United States Air Force. He was a decorated veteran of World War II having served in the European Theatre of Operations and participating in the air missions over Germany. He retired from the Air Force in 1963 having achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and serving his country for over 23 years. He settled in Tampa making it his home. Ed worked for 16 years as building engineer at the Exchange National Bank of Tampa and retired a second time to open his own business, Ed's Service and Repair which he owned and operated until 1987. Ed loved life. He never met a stranger and considered everyone he met his "buddy". He loved hunting, fishing, and boating and raised bees as a hobby. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine, his two daughters, Ginny Yanson of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Kay Pippin Uchiyama of Boulder, Colorado; one son, Michael Pippin of Jacksonville, Florida and one grandson, Edward G. Yanson. A very special thanks to the devoted and caring doctors and medical staff at the James A. Haley Veterans' Memorial Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 A.M. at the funeral home where the family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-8 P.M. Private interment will follow.
