Early Resident of Norton Dies in colorado
Mrs. Ella McNeilly , 83, of of the early day residents of Norton county,
died at one oclock this morning following a stroke at Colorado Springs,
where she had been living since leaving Norton county in May of
this yr.
The passing of the well-known Norton county pioneer woman came from several yrs of poor health.
Funeral services for Mrs McNeilly will be held in norton at the Scott- Brantley Funeral home with Rev. Rex Harmon, pastor of theChristian church conducting. The time has been set for twothirty wednesday afternoon. Burial will take place at the Norton Cemetery.
The Rebekah lodge will have charge of graveside services. The body will
arrive in Norton tonight on the Rock Island Rocket.
Mrs. McNeilly was a daughter of Mr and Mrs Jacob Bunton and lived in Clay
County before moving to Norton county.She married E.W.McNeilly in Febuary
1888 and the couple moved to Norton county the following yr.
After farming for a number of years, the McNeilley moved into the city of NOrton and started the West Main Grocery which Mrs. McNeilly sold to the foleys shortly after the death of her husband in 1935.
A member of the Christian church and the Rebekah lodge, Mrs McNeilly was considered a sincere friend, respected and admired by her neighbors. She was active in church affairs and endeavored to carry out thee teachings of the church in her everyday life.
She was the mother of four children, all of whom survives; Ernest McNeilly of Colorado spgs, co; Ralph of Alhambra, Calif, Mrs Bertha Carnine of Portland, Ore, Mrs Mildred Bright of Salem, Ore. One brother, Walter Bunion of Larned also survives, as does her brother-in-law, Ben doolittle, There are 12 grandchildren.
