Evelyn R. Hawkins BRISTOL, Tenn. Evelyn R. Hawkins native of Bristol, born Jan. 30, 1929, in Holston Valley passed away May 16, 2012, at Hampton Woods Center in Poland, Ohio.

She is survived by her son, James Stanley Leonard of Charleston, S.C.; and two grandchildren, April Ray of Bessemer, Pa., and Erik Leonard of Knoxville, Tenn.; and her brother, Eugene L. Roe. Evelyn served the Tri-Cities art community as 5 time president of the Bristol Art Guild, President of the Tri-Cities Art Council, Regional Director of the Tenessee Watecolor Society. She won many awards and is recognized by the art community in the Tri Cities area. Evelyn is a member of State Street UMC where she taught Sunday school for many years.

There will be a memorial service at the church on Saturday, June 2, at 2 p.m. Please send memorial donations in lieu of flowers, to State Street United Methodist Church, Bristol, Va. Published in Bristol Herald Courier from May 27 to May 30, 2012
