Obituary - Georgia Carol (Holt) Sanford
Georgia Carol Holt Sanford (73) Passed away unexpectedly July 20, 2009 in
Newport.
Georgia was born February 5th, 1936 in Yakima, WA the daughter of Carl and
Gloria (Barton) Holt. When Georgia was young her family moved to Spokane,
she graduated from Rogers High School in 1954.
“There was never a dull moment with Mom around.” Being a redhead was the
topic of the hour and she always had something to talk about. She whistled
and sang to the radio, loved all kinds of music, danced with kids and
grandkids, or anyone who would, and kept us laughing with her great smile
and laugh. She was always a wonderful cook and was up for trying anything
new. Everyone enjoyed big family gatherings at the cabin in the woods. She
loved wild birds and would feed them and try to imitate their whistles. She
could identify many kinds of wildflowers and gardening was a joy. There were
many pets throughout her life and was never without a dog or cat. Georgia
was active locally at the Dalkena Church and the Ladies Missionary Outreach.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years James E. Sanford, children
Cynthia Sanford Hofer, Mikel James Sanford and James Sanford Jr.,
grandchildren Josh Hofer, Malinda Hofer Skaggs, Samuel Joern, Race Sanford
and Sandy Sanford, great grandchildren Nik Hofer, Macy Hofer, Azaya Skaggs,
Carter Baumann, her sister Shirley (and husband Bob) Schmidt and many nieces
and nephews. Many loved her and all will miss her.
Services and Memorial will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 3:00 P.M.
