Obituary - Haskell Wennell Hooper
Haskell W. Hooper went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday,
November 30, 2011 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 22
days. He was born on Thursday, May 8, 1919 in Durant, Oklahoma to Frank and
Mattie Bell (Parker) Hooper.
Haskell married Natoma Andis on May 16, 1942 in Durant, Oklahoma. Mr. Hooper
was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Durant. He loved quail
hunting, fishing, gardening, playing dominoes and playing bingo. Haskell
loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
His survivors include daughters, Linda Tigert of Mesquite, Texas, Sue Hooper
of Durant, Oklahoma, Vickie Tucker and husband, Ed, of Calera, Oklahoma and
Sherry Hudson and husband, Mike, of Durant, Oklahoma; son, Randy Hooper of
Fort Lauderdale, Florida; grandchildren, Johnna Tigert of Mesquite, Texas,
Amber Hooper of Plano, Texas, Dustin Tucker and wife, Angie, of Piedmont,
Oklahoma, Melissa Baggs and husband, Richard, of Whitesboro, Texas, Kristen
Scoggin and husband, Stone, of Depew, Oklahoma and Lindsey Foster and fiancé
Tyler Johnson; sister, Elsie Cobb of Durant, Oklahoma; 10 great
grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Mr. Hooper was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mattie Hooper;
wife, Natoma Hooper; brothers, John and Doyle Hooper; sisters, Lela Hayes
and Lucille Curreton; and granddaughter, Dana Boyd.
Services for Mr. Hooper will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 2, 2011 at the
First Church of the Nazarene with Reverends John Kinsey and Harold
Blankenship officiating. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Burial
will follow at the Highland Cemetery.
Family hour will be Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 7-8 P.M. at the
Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
