Obituary - Hiram Clay Kaiser

 ABINGDON, Va. – Hiram Clay Kiser Jr. (H.C.), age 83, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007.
He was the son of the late Hiram Clay Kiser Sr. and Dacy Katherine Kiser. Mr. Kiser was a lifelong resident and farmer of Washington County, Va. He was a member of The Gideons International. He was also a member of Abingdon Baptist Church, where he was deacon emeritus. He was a retired chief fire investigator with the Virginia Department of Forestry. Mr. Kiser was an extraordinary servant of the Lord and a devoted follower of Christ. He touched many lives with his testimony of his World War II POW experiences and his desire for everyone to know the Lord as revealed in his favorite Scripture, "Jesus says, I will never leave you or forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Grace Hutton Kiser; one daughter, Cindy Howard and husband Fred of Harlan, Ky.; one son, Mike and wife Zan of Ringgold, Ga.; one sister, Ann Colley of Abingdon; three grandsons, Kyle Howard, Evan Howard and Austin Kiser; and several nieces and nephews.

Committal services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Forest Hills Memory Gardens, with military rites by the Highlands Fellowship Veteran's Honor Color Guard. Those wishing to attend the committal service are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m. Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Crigger, Larry Bays, David Duncan, Mike Mullins, Buddy Carrier, David Johnson, Charles Grogan and Don Salyers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Harry Denton Sunday school class, members of The Gideons International and members of the Southwest Virginia Chapter of Prisoners of War.In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to The Gideons International, P.O.
