Obituary - Iona Sue (Brewer) Hughes
Sue Hughes, 90, of Bristol, VA passed away on Wednesday, November 14,
2018 at her residence. She was born in Inman, VA and was a daughter of the
late Emory and ImoVickers Brewer. In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Hughes; one daughter, Jane Barker;
and two sisters and three brothers.
She was a resident of Bristol, VA for most of her life, was a seamstress,
and member of the ILGWU. She was a member of Benhams Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Eva Ruth Mumpower and her husband, Aubrey,
and Barbara Barger and her husband, Teddy, all of Bristol, VA; six
grandchildren; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday,
November 17, 2018 at Blevins Funeral & Cremation Services. The funeral
service will follow at 7:00 PM Saturday in the funeral home chapel with
Pastor Kevin Sproles officiating. The committal service and interment will
be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Sugar Grove Cemetery,
Bristol, VA. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Hal
Phillips will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Those who wish to attend the
committal service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 PM Sunday.
