BIG STONE GAP, Va. - James A. Bledsoe Sr., 68, died Sunday (Nov. 9, 2003) at Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va.

Mr. Bledsoe was born in Keokee, Va., lived most of his life in Appalachia, Va., and had been a resident of Big Stone Gap since 1992. He was a self-employed electrician and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.H. and Sarah E. (Stanley) Bledsoe; a sister, Madeline Johnson; and his first wife, Feba J. Bledsoe.

Surviving are his wife, Diana C. Bledsoe; two sons, James "Jim" A. Bledsoe Jr. and wife Violet of Big Stone Gap, and Kennith R. Bledsoe and wife Janice of Appalachia, Va.; one daughter, Judy Ann McCloud and husband Joe of Big Stone Gap; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, John Bledsoe of Norton, Va.; two sisters, Helen Maness of Appalachia, Va., and Ollie Dickenson of Big Stone Gap; several nieces and nephews; two stepdaughters, Carrie Palmer and husband Eddie of Livingston, Mont., and Debbie Blanco of Sarasota, Fla.; one stepson, William H. Johnson and wife Andrea of Sarasota, Fla.; and two stepgrandchildren.

Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Va.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Greg Townsend, minister officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, East Stone Gap, Va.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
