Obituary - James Joseph "Jim" Trombley

James Joseph Trombley, 70, died July 8, 2010, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, Wash., from complications of a stroke.
 
A memorial gathering will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the family home, 4400 Huffman Road.
 
Jim was born June 22, 1940, in Grand Coulee, Wash., to Richard Neil Trombley and Jean Gilpin.
 
He graduated from Newport High School in Washington and served in the U.S. Navy.
 
He attended Eastern Washington University and graduated with a teaching degree. At the university he met the love of his life, Patricia Lee Steen, and they married Sept. 16, 1967. They had two lovely children and moved to Anchorage, where they settled.
 
Jim and Patty both were teachers. She taught at Gladys Wood Elementary School and later Huffman Elementary School. Jim was a counseler at Central Junior High and later taught at SAVE High School.
 
Jim taught the family about nature and how to respect it. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and just loved the outdoors. Jim made many longtime friends and shared many good times in his 70 years. "We will all miss him," his family said.
 
Patty preceded Jim in death on June 6, 2001. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sibling.
 
He is survived by his sons, James Trombley of North Pole and Brian Trombley of Yakima, Wash.; five grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
