Jay Alan Langlotz, 61, passed away  June 24 in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 7, 1952 in Indianapolis, Ind. He was raised on the north side of Indianapolis by his parents Elaine and Vernon Basinger.

He enjoyed building and racing Soap Box Derby cars with his grandfather “Dutch” Vaughn whom he had a lasting and joyful memory.
Mr. Langlotz attended North Central High School, graduating in 1970. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1970 only to be deployed to Vietnam shortly thereafter. After being honorably discharged, and having his foundation formed by his devotion for service to the military and the brotherhood, he once again reenlisted. Semper Fi my brother. Semper Fi.

He spent many years in sales as well as his work as a corporate trainer. This led him across the country, “never meeting a stranger and always leaving with a new friend.” Mr. Langlotz was a devoted father, and mentor to both his own children and others in the Lawrence Township Community.

Surviving are wife Shannon; sons Jeremy Langlotz of Indianapolis and Max Mills of Conway; daughters Tabatha Faitele-Langlotz of Indianapolis, and Brandy Hitzeman and husband Timothy of North Myrtle Beach; brother Lee Langlotz and wife Sharon of Indianapolis; uncle Gary Vaughn and wife Kathy of Surfside Beach.
