Mrs. Jerrie Rutter Harr, 81, of Centreville, Md., wife of James Willard "Will" Harr, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday March 15, 2017, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 7, 1935, in Bristol Va., the daughter of James and Frances Rutter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-mother, Mae Rutter; and brothers in-law, C.D. Harr, Jerry Harr, Grove Winegar, and Fred Wagner.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Willard (Will) Harr of Centreville, Md.; her sister, Joan Michaels (Mike) of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; her step-sister, Annah Courts (Mark) of Knoxville, Tenn.; three daughters, Denise Wolfe (Phillip) of Warwick, R.I., Cynthia Harr Beville (Earl) of Grasonville, Md., and Regina Ellick (Niel) of Stevensville, Md.; six grandchildren, Staci O'Neill (Conor) of Manassas, Va., Amanda Stokes (Joe) of Stevensville, Md., Brandon Drabczyk (Lindsey) of Pasadena, Md., Robert Knotts (Crystal) of Centreville, Md., Kara Drabczyk of Grasonville, Md., and Michael Wolfe of Annapolis, Md.; eight great-grandchildren, special cousins, James B. Loggins of Crofton, Md., Tammye Keola and Justin Mahon of Davidsonville, Md. She is also survived by sisters in-law, Dorothy Harr, Lucille Winegar, Sue Wagner, Rebecca Harr, Ann Mays (Charles); brothers in-law, Herman Harr (Betty), Wayne Harr (Vivian) of Blountville, Tenn., and Dale Harr (Virginia) of Kingsport, Tenn.; as well as many very special nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

Jerrie and Will moved to Maryland in early 1959, Jerrie stayed at home raising their three daughters, and was an exceptional homemaker, mother and wife. As her daughters grew older, she began a career as a Dental Assistant and Dental Office Manager until retiring to Centreville, Md. In the early 1990's Jerrie and Will built their dream home and enjoyed many years of traveling, gardening and spending time with their beloved family. She loved warm weather, vacationing in Aruba, swimming in her pool and had an outstanding aptitude for growing plants. She took great care to create a warm and beautiful home for her family. Above all, she loved her family and they loved her. She was a devoted member of the Centreville United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at the Centreville United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017. Interment will take place in Blountville, Tenn. at a later date.
