Obituary - Jerry Allen Biddle

ELKHART -- Jerry A. Biddle Sr., 65, of 53604 C.R. 15 died Saturday (June 23, 2007) at 12:25 p.m. at Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 16, 1941, in Elkhart to Howard Biddle and Sareita Niblock. He married Fay A. (Rudy) Workman on May 22, 1999, in Elkhart.

She survives, along with one son, Jerry A. Biddle Jr. of Middlebury; two daughters, Carrie A. Peters of Bristol and Terri A. Biddle of Bremen; two step-daughters, Sue Ann Lewis of Indianapolis and Angela Ploszaj of West Simsbery, Conn.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Visitation is to be held 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, followed by services officiated by the Rev. Keith McFarren of Faith United Methodist Church. Burial will follow with graveside military honors at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bristol.

Mr. Biddle served the U.S. Army for 23 years, retiring as a major. He was stationed in Alaska, Hawaii and Nevada, among other places, and was assigned to the 172nd Infantry motor pool. He then delivered motor homes and other vehicles across the country for many years for several area RV transport companies, including the Bennett Company in Howe. He was a member of the Bristol American Legion, Elkhart Moose Lodge 599 and Elkhart Disabled American Veterans 19. He also volunteered to drive veterans to area veterans' hospitals.
