Joe Dan Gosdin, 66, of Irving, Texas, passed away on Oct. 31, 2010. He was born Aug. 29, 1944 in Ft. Worth to Frank and Mary Jo Killian Gosdin of Plainview, Texas. He grew up in Plainview and Lubbock, Texas, graduating from Monterey High School in 1962. After graduation, he moved to Irving, where he resided for over 40 years.

He is survived by son, Jeff Gosdin and daughter-in-law Christi Gosdin of Plano, and son, Jerrod Gosdin and daughter-in-law Jescenia Gosdin of Plano; grandsons, Grant Gosdin, Evan Gosdin and Taylor Yarbrough, all of Plano; brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Sherry of Lubbock; brother and sister-in-law, David and Pete of Denton and brother, Dean, of Hollywood, Calif.; one nephew; three nieces; two great-nephews and three great-nieces; an uncle, Hardin Jefferson Killian, Jr. of Houston; as well as many close friends and co-workers.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Kathleen Gosdin.

Dan was a dedicated and hard worker by nature. He was employed with Pioneer Foods for 13 years, Merchants Freight Lines for 27 years, Sears & Roebuck and Coca Cola. He had over 5 million miles logged without an accident. Dan made regular contributions to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and other local charities and adopted a family every Christmas in lieu of gifts. He will be remembered as a kind, generous soul and someone who loved life and those around him. His three greatest joys in life were his sons, his family and friends and the family farm. He will be missed by all.

A celebration of the life of Dan Gosdin will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4th between 6 and 8 p.m. at Donnelly's Colonial Funeral Home, 606 West Airport Freeway (Highway 183), Irving, Texas 75062, (972) 579-1313.
