Obituary - Joseph David Gann

Joseph David Gann, 78, son of William H. and Ennid Bennie York Gann, was born Feb. 27, 1927, at Bloodland. He died July 29, 2005, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

He married Emogene Richison Feb. 14, 1949. They had nine children: Janice, David, Sharon, Darrell, Connie, Billy, Ronnie, Lawrence and Marty.

Mr. Gann spent many years in Washington working in the fruit orchards. He took pride in his ability to graft four or five different kinds of fruit into one tree. He was also an avid gardener, sharing his fruits and vegetables with neighbors and friends.

He later married Nelda Gale. They had five children, Shirley, Jay, Freddie, William and Travis.
Joe and Nelda enjoyed working in the timber and cut firewood for families in the area.

He received Jesus into his heart in September 2001. He and Nelda were baptized in the Big Piney River by Anzel Shoults.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leo; and two great-grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Nelda of the home; his children, Janice Robbins of Raymondville, David Gann, Sharon Brooks, Darrell Gann, Connie Fischer and Billy Gann of the state of Washington, Ronnie Gann of Springfield, Lawrence and Marty Gann of Lebanon, Shirley Hock of Belleview, Ill., Jay of Farmington and Freddie, William and Travis of the home; one brother, Gene Gann; two sisters, Susie Green and Ann Buckner of Licking; a half brother, Roy York of Crocker; 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.


Services were Aug. 2 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Delores Rauscher officiating. Burial was in the Craddock Cemetery.
