CAMBRIDGE -- Leona M. Eubanks, 95, died Monday (Nov. 12, 2007) at the Cambridge Manor.

She was born southeast of Cambridge on May 3, 1912, to Charles and Clara Rose (Stueber) Benscoter. She was baptized into the United Methodist Church on April 20, 1924. She graduated from Cambridge High School with the class of 1929. She attended Kearney State Teachers College, receiving her diploma in normal training. She taught school at Earl School District, Brule, North Platte.

She was married to Ross Oberson in 1943, and he preceded her in death in 1963. She moved to Oregon, finishing teaching at Monmouth School in Oregon. She taught elementary school for over 31 years.

She later married her high school sweetheart, Lester Eubanks in 1975, and he preceded her in death in 1995. They split time between Oregon and Nebraska until they retired to Cambridge completely in 1988.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers of Arapahoe and the AARP.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and two brothers, infant Quinton Benscoter and Irvin Benscoter.

Survivors include her step-daughter, Mary Lou and husband, Doyle Wineland of Cambridge; step-son, Gene and wife, Colleen Eubanks of Lincoln; five step-grandchildren; 11 great grand; and two nieces.

Memorial services will be at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge at 11 a.m., Friday, with the Rev. David Rowe officiating. Inurnment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Cambridge.

Memorials may be left in her name at the mortuary.
