Leonard Austin Scott of Fort Collins died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at Frasier Meadows Health Care Center in Boulder. He was 82.
 
The son of Walter A. Scott and Flora Cleo Osborne Scott, he was born Nov. 23, 1920, in Gilman City, Mo. He married Mary Lou Mayfield in October 1941 in Scottsbluff, Neb. She preceded him in death in 1989.
 
He was raised in Casper, Wyo., from 1922 to 1951, and moved with his job to Billings, Mont., from 1951 to 1965, Boulder from 1965 to 1973, and Houston from 1973 to 1989. He retired to Fort Collins in 1989, where he lived until his death.
 
After graduating from Natrona County High School in Casper, he attended the University of Colorado on a football scholarship in 1939 and 1940. He then transferred to the University of Wyoming. At CU, he was a member of the SAE fraternity.
 
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, was a member of the Methodist Church, an active volunteer with the YMCA in the communities where he lived, and an avid CU fan. His hobbies included golf, fishing, hunting and horseshoes. He was a dedicated walker and loved to garden.
 Survivors include three sons, Leonard T. Scott and wife, Kathy, of Los Angeles, Ron R. Scott and wife, Ann, of Sheridan, Wyo., and Brad A. Scott and wife, Heather, of Lafayette; two sisters, Charlene Tull of Overland Park, Kan., and Yvonne Miller of Aurora; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
