Lois Marie Quinn, daughter of Bernard and Mae (Verzani) Halter, was born September 6, 1920, in Armour, South Dakota. She received her education in Corsica, South Dakota and Hull, Iowa.

On August 17, 1940 Lois was united in marriage to Edwin S. Quinn in Klamath Falls, Oregon. To this union seven children were born. Edwin and Lois made their home in Oregon for six years and then moved to Rock Valley, Iowa. They moved to Emmetsburg in 1947.

Lois was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She worked at Reit's Bakery and at J.C. Penney until it closed. Lois loved being with her family especially playing cards and games with her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and made a quilt for all of her children and grandchildren. Lois truly enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of Holy Family Parish where she sang in the choir.

Lois died Monday, July 21, 2008 at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg, Iowa at the age of 87. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edwin; two brothers; three sisters; and a granddaughter, Jill.

She is survived by her children, Dennis and Jan Quinn of Fort Dodge, IA, David and Chris Quinn of Mason City, IA, Darlis and Curt Hoppe of Trimont, MN, Danita and John O'Leary of Emmetsburg, IA, Dawn and Tim Siemers of Emmetsburg, IA, Denise and Charles Merideth of Forest City, IA and Donna Moser of Algona, IA; twenty six grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Schrieber of Shannon, IL and Norena Thoma of Littleton, CO; a brother-in-law, Wilfred Quinn; sisters-in-law, Rouletta Halter, Shirley (Bill) Zornig, Loretta Quinn and Betty Quinn; many nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
