Obituary - Marietta (Shade) Nieman

Marietta Nieman, age 91, died at 9:55 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Lutheran Community Home in Seymour.

Mrs. Nieman was born November 14, 1913, in Jennings County, IN and was the daughter of Martin and Ida Mae (Deppert) Shade. On July 31, 1938, in Seymour, she married William D. Nieman who preceded her in death on January 27, 1956.

Mrs. Nieman was employed at Contel Telephone Company, in the Billing Department, retiring in 1978 after 22 years of service. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was active in the Womens Missionary League Guild, a member of Womens Business and Professional Club of Seymour, an Auxiliary member of Lutheran Community Home and the Hospital Guild of Seymour. She was active in the American Cancer Society and volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels for several years.

She is survived by one son; Charles David (Karen) Nieman, of Schererville IN, two grandchildren; Lisa Nieman of Schererville, IN and Scott Nieman of Crown Point, IN.; four sisters; Melba Board and Dorothy Wayman, of Seymour, Katherine Waggoner, Betty Barger of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers; Kenneth and Clarence Shade, and one sister Alberta Nentrup.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Burkholder Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Ottis Sauls officiating.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service, on Tuesday.
Burial will take place following the service at Riverview Cemetery.
