Marvin R. Perry, 82, of Decatur, IL, died 2:10 P.M., Sunday, November 20, 2011, at his residence.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Faith Baptist Church, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be 4 to 8 P.M., Friday, November 25, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Marrowbone Township Cemetery, Bethany, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church, Decatur, IL.

Marvin was born April 16, 1929 in Bethany, IL, the son of Henry Joshua and Mary Elisa (Murphy) Perry. He married Barbara J. Reed on March 8, 1953 in Decatur, IL. She preceded him in death on May 13, 2011.

Marvin was a Founding Member, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Faith Baptist Church. He was also a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Board member of Child Evangelism Fellowship, Chaplain at Macon County Jail for over 20 years, and a member of Christian Businessmens Committee. Marvin was owner and operator of M&P Electronics and Perry’s T.V. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1951-1952.

He is survived by his sons Richard “Rich” D. Perry and wife, Kim E. of Osco, IL, Stephen “Steve” L. Perry and wife, Denise of Springfield, IL, Mark A. Perry and wife, Lauri of Yorkville, IL, Gregory L. Perry and significant other, Kim of Lincoln, IL, Jeffery D. Perry and wife, Shiow-Yuh of Palentine, IL, Timothy J. Perry and wife, Cheryl of Omaha, NE; 21 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother Dr. Robert Perry of Crawfordsville, IN.
