Mary Martha Franklin, 91, of Spencer, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at McCormick’s Creek Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center. She was born on June 11, 1925 in Davies County to Homer Sanders and Edna Mitchell. She was a 1941 graduate of Worthington High School and worked for JCPenney until her retirement in 1989. Martha was a member of Freedom United Methodist Church, was a 50-year member of Jolly Homemakers, and a past board member of Freedom Community Center. She enjoyed putting together photo albums, gardening, working puzzles, word searches, and playing dominoes.

Martha is survived by her children, Mike J Franklin (Linda Boyle) of Bloomington, Linda Welch (James) of Bloomington, and Kathy Franklin of Georgetown, Texas; four grandchildren, Michael R. Franklin (Sheryl), Mark Welch (Linda), Cassie Welch, and Jodi Coe (Clifford); and nine grandchildren, Tessa Franklin, J.P. Robbins, Lilah Phillips, Tate Killebrew, Jordan Allen, Garrhett Allen, Benjamin Coe, Camden Coe, and Oliver Coe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 64 years, Robert L. Franklin; and two sisters, Beulah Hamlin and Dorothy Loftman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2016 at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation well be held from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
