Obituary - Maureen F (Wray) Detzler
Maureen F. (Wray) Detzler, "King's beautiful blue eyed Maureen", age 92
years of Oswego, IL, previously of South Bend, IN and Lebanon, MO (where her
husband George King Detzler worked as the head editor of the Lebanon Daily
Record newspaper), died Sunday, April 13, 2008 at Rush Copley Medical Center
in Aurora, IL. She was born September 14, 1915 in Terre Haute, IN, the
daughter of the late Benjamin and Florence nee Brown Wray.
Prior to her retirement in 2007, Mrs. Detzler worked for 75 years, the last
34 years was as a dental assistant/receptionist for Dr. James Soderstrom,
DDS in Aurora, IL.
She is survived by a daughter, J. Maureen Secor and son, James K. (Judith)
Detzler, both of Oswego, IL; four grandchildren, Mike Secor, Steve Secor,
both of Oswego, William (Wanda) Detzler of Aurora, IL and Donald (Lynn)
Detzler of Oswego, IL; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ryan) Secor Hawley, Steve A.
(Kelsey) Secor, Tony Secor, all of Prescott Valley, AZ, Elizabeth Detzler,
Derek Detzler, Patrick Detzler, all of Aurora, IL and Gracie Detzler of
Oswego, IL, Matt (Niki) Barrow of Shorewood, IL, Ryan (Dawn) Barrow and
Shaunna Barrow of Oswego, IL; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Kaylin Secor
and Matylin and Kaylin Barrow; her sister, Virginia (Bob) Borden of South
Bend, IN; and many nieces and/or nephews, Pam (Jeff) Borden Allsop, Bob
(Kathy) Borden , Bill Borden, Allen Heinemann, Jim(Jamie) Borden, John Wray,
Diane Thomas, Nancy Wray, Edward (Rosie) Wray, Jerry (Linda) Wray, Beth Ann
(Joe) Portolese and JoAnn McClelland.
Mrs. Detzler was preceeded in death by her husband of 38 years, George King
Detzler who she married June 2, 1936; her son-in-law, Jerry Secor; her
parents; three brothers, Winfred, Carl and Robert Wray.
Visitation for Mrs. Detzler "The sweetest little angel in heaven" will be
from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at McKeown-Dunn Funeral
Home, Ltd. & Cremation Services, Ltd., 210 S. Madison St., Oswego, IL. The
funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Funeral
Home with Rev. Phil Sheets officiating. Burial will take place at Lincoln
Memorial Park in Aurora, IL
Memorials may be directed to the Church of the Good Shepherd in memory of
Mrs. Maureen Detzler.
