Wilma Comer Groseclose Smiley, age 88, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000 in Livermore, Calif.

Mrs. Smiley was born Jan. 17, 1912 in Marion, a daughter and the youngest of seven children of James Gunn Comer and Mary Ann Cormany. Her first husband, Byron Glenn Groseclose, the father of her three children, died in Marion in 1965. She was widowed a second time when Norville P. Smiley Sr., died in 1990.

She lived most of her life in Marion, but after her second marriage, she resided in North Carolina, Lynchburg, and Williamsburg. At the time of her death, her home was in Brentwood, Calif. In Marion, she worked part-time for several years in the office of the former Lincoln Builders Supply Company.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Robert H. Kuster of Rockville, Md.; two sons and daughters-in-law, B. Clark and Wanda Groseclose of Brentwood, Calif.; Lynn H. and Sharon Groseclose of Sarasota, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Nov. 16, at Rose Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Charles DeHart officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
