Robert Fleenor, son of David and Mary Fickle Fleenor, was born near Abington, Virginia on November 17, 1858 and passed away at his home in Monroe, Iowa May 12th, 1926, aged 67 years, 5 months and 25 days.

He and a younger brother were left to his mother's care, his father having been killed in the Civil War in 1863.

He came to Iowa in his sixteenth year with his mother, brothers and sister, and settled near Monroe, Iowa in near which place he has since resided.

He was united in marriage to Paulina Gifford, on November 9th, 1887. To this union were born two children: Mrs. Goldie Buckley and Charles, both of Monroe, Iowa. In 1884 he was converted and united with the M. E. church at Bellevue, Iowa and later transferred his membership to the Monroe M. E. church.

He leaves to mourn his departure, his widow, two children, three grand-children, one-brother and one-half sister, the two latter living in Sacramento, California, also a cousin, Isaac Fleenor of Montezuma, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, Friday afternoon, May 14th at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Malone.
The pall bearers were Will Ammer, George Banks, Laurel Buckley, Ralph Gloyd, Howard Heffelfinger and Garrett Kersbergen.
Music was furnished by a double mixed quartette, consisting of lira. Dr. Taylor, Mrs. 0, M, Wilson, Mrs, Ruth Shaw, Mrs Thelma Lewis, Horace Cash, Ed Spain, Carl Ammor and Merle Montgomery, with Ruth Ammor as pianist. Two of the songs rendered, "The Home Over There" and "In the Sweat Bye and Byes", were old favorites of the deceased. 

Relatives and friends attending from a distance were Mr, and Mrs. I. B. Fleenor and M. M. Sbeely of Montezuma: Mr. and Mrs. Geo. M. Gifford and Mr. and Mrs. Vidus Stringer and. son of Farnhamvilie; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gifford, Mrs. Jane Gifford, and Mrs. Peffer, all of Pleasantville; Mr. and Mrs. Jay Proudfit, Mr. and Mrs, Roy Proudfit, Mr. and Mrs. Eillis Proudfit, Mrs. M. E. Proudfit and Ora Proudfit, all of Des Moines; Mrs .Ellen Byers of Reasnor; Mrs. Laura Robinson of Newton; R. Terpstra of Woodward; Mr, and Mrs. John Kersbergen of Pella; Mrs. John Vanderwaal of Leighton; Mr. and Mrs. George Banks and Mrs. Will Shadley of Newton and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Raridon of Newton, Iowa.
