Obituary - Robert Duane Summers
Robert D. Summers, 68, of Greenwood passed away June 1, 2015 at his
residence. Born August 22, 1946 in Epsom, Indiana, he was the son of the
late Gerald and Wilma (Andis) Summers.
He worked as a millwright for NAVSTAR in Indianapolis for 39 years, retiring
in 2010. He was a 1964 graduate of Elnora, Indiana High School. Robert was a
member of Glenns Valley United Methodist Church and American Legion Post#
252, Greenwood. Robert, along with his wife, has hosted sixteen foreign
exchange students.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Kaiser Summers, whom he married on July
30, 1966 in Burns City, Indiana; son, John (Amy) Summers; daughter, Becky
(Mike) Burgess; brother, Randy Summers; two sisters, Maudie Harper and Hyla
Hughes; two grandchildren, Lauren and Baron Burgess. He was preceded in
death by his parents; a brother, Roger Summers and a sister, Nyla Holbert.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Forest Lawn
Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call Friday
June 5, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
