Ronald Keith Bland, 82, formerly of Solsberry, Indiana, passed away at 2:42 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer. He was born February 2, 1934 in Solsberry, the son of Ralph and Elizabeth May Trowbridge Bland.

An avid farmer and outdoorsman, Keith grew up on the family farm near Newark and graduated from Solsberry High School in 1952. He was happiest working and living on his own farm on Bland Road, where he resided until October 2013 when he moved to assisted living in Bloomington. In August 2014 at the age of 80, Keith moved to Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer. He was a deeply religious man who donated generously to charities in order to follow the example of Christ. A man who chose to live quietly and simply, he never lost his youthful sense of humor even when his body and memory began to fail.

He will be missed by friends and family: Sister, Linda Benjamin-Miles (Butch) of Austin, TX; Uncle, Clifford Trowbridge (Margaret) of Greenwood, IN; Sister-in-Law, Sherry Bland of Solsberry. He is also survived by five nieces and nephews; Doug Bland of Solsberry, Dianna Bland Hancock of Bloomington, Dirk Bland of Bloomington, Eric Bippen of Indianapolis and Christine Peters of Fuquay-Varina, NC.

He was preceded in death by his father Ralph in 1993, his mother May in 2008, his brother Kenny in 2000 and his infant brother Ralph Leon in 1932.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Interment will follow in Newark cemetery in rural Solsberry.

Public visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the Newark Cemetery Fund.
