Ronnie Clay Owens, age 77, of Bristol, Va., passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.
He was raised in Dickenson County, Virginia. He was a retired employee of Sprint with 42 years of service. He subcontracted for 16 years. Ronnie was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Masons and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed music, fishing and horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Napoleon Bonaparte Owens and Ella Belle Powers Owens and by eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Lee Tallman Owens; sister, Patsy Edwards and husband, Bill; and several nieces and nephews.
It was Ronnie's wish to not have any formal visitation or service. The
family kindly requests that friends not visit at the home at this time. The
family extends their special thank you to Amy and Tim Smith. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to St. Jude Children's
