Obituary - Ruby (Lyon) Kaylor

Ruby Kaylor, age 88, of Bluff City, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2014, at Johnson City Medical Center. Mrs. Kaylor was born in Sullivan County; a daughter of the late Maynard and Cordie Boling Lyon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Verl Kaylor, Sr,; daughters, Trula Barnette and Kathleen Kaylor; step-daughters, Anna B. Jones and Roselyn Lyon; and brothers, Clarence Lyon and Herman Lyon. 

Mrs. Kaylor worked as a farm girl and was a member of the Senior Citizens of Chinquapin Grove and a member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church. She also loved to go to yard sales. 

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Bolyard and husband Larry; sons, Gary Kaylor and wife Sandy, and Verl Kaylor, Jr. and wife Sherry all of Bluff City; grandchildren, Carol Kaylor, Michael Barnette, Gary Lee Kaylor, Jr. and wife Amber, and Joey Kaylor and wife Brittney; eight great grandchildren; several special friends who called her “Granny”; other special friends, Carl and Shelley Gasser; five step-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

The funeral service for Mrs. Ruby Kaylor will be at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jamie Ferguson, Pastor Rusty Verran, and Wade Lockner officiating. Music will be under the direction of Stanley Stevens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM prior to the service. 

The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, January 31, 2014, in Chinquapin grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Jenkins, Tom White, Mack Lyon, Stanley Stevens, Johnny Wilson, Herbert Riley, Bobby Richards, and David Bartley. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 am. 

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the nursing staff of 6200 ay Johnson City Medical Center for the care given to Mrs. Kaylor. 

Those who prefer memorial in lieu of flowers may make donations to Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church.
