Obituary - Ruby Opal (White) Andis

Ruby Opal White Andis, age 99, went peacefully to be with the Lord Friday, March 4, 2016, at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was born July 8, 1916, in the Smith Creek Section of Washington County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Henry White and Maude Harley White. “Miss Ruby” and her husband Ed were farmers, homemakers, store merchants and lived all their lives on Smith Creek where they raised their eight children. Ruby was a masterful story teller who could relate events in detail well back into her early childhood. She was an avid gardener and constant helpmate to her husband. She was a spirited, loving, generous lady with an abiding patience and love for all, especially children. When called upon, even in her early nineties, she would readily hop onto her four-wheeler to run errands and was known to have attended Sunday morning services on her bike with helmet intact. She was a member of Valley View Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Edgar Newton Andis, who died in 1983; her precious grandchild, Terry Mark Andis; two brothers, Warren White and Malcolm White; and two sisters, Maxie Carswell and Virginia McCroskey.
She is survived by her eight children: G. H. Andis and wife Glenda, Joseph Andis and wife Nanabee, Edgar Eugene Andis and fiancée Norma, Phyllis Andis Haile and husband Harry Baya, Fred Andis and wife JoAnn, Nancy Aker and husband John, Bobby Andis and wife Karen, and Lisa Andis Street and husband Kemery; two sisters, Daisy
3 Wampler and Frances White; sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 7, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. at the Frost Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers and Rev. Kenneth Widner officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Gary Andis, Chad Andis, Brad Andis, Blake Andis, Wade Andis, Adam Haile, and Jason Aker.
