Shirley Charline Lunday of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017.  She was only a few weeks short of her 93rd birthday.

Shirley was born in Newdale, CO on November 20, 1924, daughter of the late Margaret (Gibeson) and Charles Lusk.

After graduating from Rocky Ford High School in 1942, she attended Business College in La Junta, CO, and then worked for the Holly Sugar Corp. in Swink.  After a few years of marriage, she became a devoted mother and homemaker. 

She was the wife of the late Byron (BB) Lunday.  They were married in Syracuse, KS on June 4, 1947, and were married for 67 years.  They both spent their entire lives in the Rocky Ford area.

Shirley was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford, and dedicated much of her life to church activities.  She was the President of the United Methodist Women for many years.  

She is survived by a son, Dennis Lunday, of Pueblo, CO; daughter, Melinda (wife of Steve Konishi) of Visalia, CA; and son, Steven Lunday, of Rocky Ford, CO.  She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, BB Lunday; brother, Richard Lusk; and her parents.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 8th at First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Pastor Marty Lee and Pastor John Dell officiating.

Family request memorial donations be made to the First United Methodist Church, 301 W. Washington, Rocky Ford, CO  81067;  or Arkansas Valley Hospice, 531 Lewis Ave., La Junta, CO  81050.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Ford - Ustick Funeral Home.
