Obituary - Valarie L (Parker) Markley

Valarie L. Markley, 60, of Castalia, passed away Friday night, Jan. 3, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, courageously battling a lengthy illness. 

She was born Feb. 9, 1951, in Bedford, Ind., and attended Margaretta High School. She became an LPN through Sandusky School of Practical Nursing. She worked at Sandusky Memorial Hospital and Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky. 

Valarie attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Sandusky, and was a long-time member of American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed dealing with antiques and fine collectables and vacationing with her family and friends in Las Vegas and Florida. 

She is survived by her husband Timothy Markley; son Daniel Markley, of Toledo; three sisters, Donita (John) Lawhorn and Arlene "Sue" Herholtz, of Sinking Springs, Fla., and Brenda (Tony) Zahel, of Sandusky; brother Cecil (Myrtle) Parker Jr., of Medina; two brothers in-law, Mike (Maree) Markley, of Castalia and Mark (Elizabeth) Markley, of Huron; seven nieces; seven nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. 

Valarie was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Hattie (Casada) Parker Sr.; in-laws, Ruby and Roger Markley; and one niece. 

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, and from noon Tuesday, Feb.. 7, until services at 1 p.m. The Rev. Philip Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in Castalia Cemetery.
