BRISTOL, Va. - Virginia Barker  Marrs , 78, left this world and went to her heavenly home on Sunday (Oct. 7, 2001) at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
 
She was a native of Washington County, Va., but made her home in Kingsport for several years and returned to Washington County in 1998.
 
She was a daughter of the late Marshal and Mary Moore Wooten and was also preceded in death by her first husband, Hallie Barker; her second husband, Luther  Marrs ; her stepmother, Hettie Wooten; and a sister, Faye Murray.
 
She was a retired employee of Raytheon Co. and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer and Sunday School teacher.
 
Surviving are one daughter, Diane Barker, Bristol, Va.; one stepdaughter, Cecilia Koyn, Mansfield, Ohio; four sisters, Viola Calloway and husband, Nathan, and Georgia Whittemore, all of Kingsport, Carolyn Dickenson, Jonesboro, Ga., and Rosetta Harvey and husband, Don, both of Mount Carmel, Tenn.; three brothers, Carlos Wisley and wife, Rudene, and J.T. Wooten and wife, Freida, all of Chicago Ill., and Sam Wooten and wife, Tyne, both of Anaheim, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
 
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Akard Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.
 
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Carl Young and the Rev. Oscar Edwards officiating.
 
The committal service and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the graveside in Walnut Grove Cemetery at Mendota, Va.
