Walter R. Harris
April 3, 1931 ~ September 7, 2016
Walter R. Harris, 85 years old, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at
his home. He retired from Ridge Company. Walter was born on April 3, 1931 in
South Bend, Indiana to the late H. Alton and Cecil E. (Miller) Harris. On
December 22, 1963 in Washington County, Indiana he was married to Karen A.
(Browning) Harris. She preceded him in death on March 23, 2006.
Walter is survived by his daughter, Victoria Wolkiewicz of South Bend; his
companion, Ann Menn; daughter-in-law, Sandy Harris of Plymouth; eight
grandchildren, John Adams, Jim (Lori) Adams, Stephanie (Charles) Hooks,
Kristy (Reggie) Wolkiewicz, Daniel (Elaina) Wolkiewicz, B.J. Smyers, Brad
Harris, and Richard (Lindsay) Harris; fifteen great grandchildren; and
thirteen great-great grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by his son,
Rick Harris, sisters, Georgia “Pearl” Snyder and Mary Helen Bridgewater, and
his brother, Edgar F. (Irene) Harris of North Liberty.
Walter served in the National Guard. He was an avid bowler and member of
Senior Bowling Club. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at
Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN, where
friends may visit with the family from 11:00 am until time of services. Rev.
Steven Meck, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Church, will officiate. Burial
will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN.

Foundation or Center for Hospice Care.
