Obituary - Wendell Eugene Bowhay
W. E. "Gene" Bowhay, resident of Ponca City, passed away Saturday
evening, May 16, 2009, at his home in Ponca City. He was 87.
The service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the
Albright United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Robinson, Pastor of Albright
United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will then follow at Resthaven
Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home &
Crematory.
Wendell was born on Saturday, October 22, 1921 to Arthur J. and Edith
Sandafur Bowhay in Covington, OK.
He was married to Maxine Beaver on October 17, 1942 in Shawnee, OK. He
worked worked in the refinery for Conoco for 35 years, starting out as a day
laborer, holding various positions before retiring as an operator at the
Lube Oil Loading Rack. He was a member of the Albright United Methodist
Church.
He is survived by: his wife Maxine of 66 years; his daughter Sharron Craft
and her husband Tim of Ponca City; son Danny Bowhay and his wife Debbie of
Westport, WA; brothers, Joseph L. Bowhay of Colorado Springs, Carl Bowhay of
Red Oak, Texas, and Royal V. Bowhay of Sallisaw; sister, Rene DeArmond of
Cold Water, Ks.; grandchildren: Jason Bartlett and wife Sherri, Crystal
Knowles, Patrick Bowhay and fiancé Stevie Altman; great grandchildren,
Violet Knowles and Keegan Bowhay.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Arvilla Hammond and Carol
Lewis, and brother George Bowhay.
Casketbearers will be Tim Craft, Jason Bartlett, Patrick Bowhay, and
nephews, Richard Bowhay, James Bowhay, and David Bowhay.
Honorary casketbearers will be the Weekly Card Game Players; Marion and
Donna Johnstone, Charles Johnston, and Tom Head.
