Sammie Joe Vaughn Sammie Joe “Sam” Vaughn, 82, of Baytown, passed away Friday, August 17, 2007 in Baytown. Sam was born in Harrold, TX to Sam Zone and Myrtle Faye Vaughn on March 15, 1925. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a U. S. Navy WWII and Korean Conflict veteran. He was a longtime employee of Conoco, Inc., having spent the last 13 years of his career in Dubai, UAE and Jarkarta, Indonesia.

He was preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Katie and is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Jean E. Vaughn; children and their spouses, Mike and Debi Vaughn, Pat and Fonda Vaughn, Liz and Rick Norris, and Dan and Christine Vaughn; grandchildren, Alicia Shafer, Christen and Steven Vaughn, Shiloh, Savana, and Monica Welch, Christopher Norris, and Andy Vaughn; and great grandchild, Travis Shafer.

Serving as pallbearers will be his sons, Mike, Pat, and Dan Vaughn, grandson, Steven Vaughn, Rick Norris, and Lewis Kana. Gene Krizak and Mark Thulis will serve as honorary pallbearers.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1907 Carolina St., Baytown, TX 77520 with Rev. Dwight Canizares officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery with military honors.

His family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the Eucharistic Ministers who faithfully visited Sam as well as Gloria Wilson, special caregiver, and all of the caregivers at St. James House of Baytown and Regency Hospice.
