Obituary - William Leo Kidwell

William "Leo" Kidwell, 87, of Brazil, passed away at 7:19 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

He was born in Brazil, April 30, 1919, to Bert Quinton and Blanche Edith Sweet Kidwell. May 25, 1936 he married Doris Muncie, she preceded him in death. Mr. Kidwell worked for the Pennsylvania Rail Road Company in his early years. He worked in construction, as a plasterer, for many years.

June 30, 1991 he married Phoebe Beasley Haney, she survives. Mr. Kidwell and his wife attend the Church of our Lord Jesus. He was loved and revered as an elder of the church. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, hunting rabbit and squirrel as well as fishing. He also volunteered at Holly Hill Health Care and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year award.

Mr. Kidwell was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris Kidwell, brothers Harold Kidwell and Delbert Kidwell; sisters Ina Faye Armstrong and Norma Jean Kidwell in infancy; sons-in-law Merlyn Vanatti and James McDonald.

Survivors include his wife; Phoebe Kidwell; children Dorothy Vanatti of Brazil, Robert Leo Kidwell and wife Fonda of Brazil, Jackie McDonald of Brazil; step children Tina Sheese and husband "Herbie" Herbert of Terre Haute, Samuel Haney Jr. and wife Susan of Terre Haute, Danuel Haney of Terre Haute, Terry Haney of Terre Haute, and Teresa Haenig of Indianapolis; sister Elizabeth "Hope" York of Brazil; 7 grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Kidwell will be at Lawson Miller Chapel, Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Anthony Orkman officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery.
