Obituary - Billie Joe "B J" (Pyron) Andis

Andis, Billie Joe Passed away on November 24 after a lengthy hard-fought illness.

She was born on October 9, 1928 in Clinton, Oklahoma to Mae Meacham Pyron and Raymond Lee Pyron. B. J. graduated as Valedictorian from Stafford Oklahoma High School in 1946 and completed her Nurses' Training at St. Anthony's School of Nursing and Amarillo College on May 23, 1949.

On November 22, 1952 she married Bill Andis at Polk Street Methodist Church and on November 22, 2011 they observed their 59th Anniversary. After their move to Dallas, B. J. became employed by St. Paul's Hospital and after 22 years of dedicated service, she retired as Supervisor of Surgery. During Bill's service in the Texas Legislature she was honored to be President of the Legislative Wives Club. For many years, she served as Crime Watch Chairman for the Northwest Dallas Improvement League and was honored by the Dallas City Council for her dedicated and distinctive service to the Dallas Police Department and for the Citizens of Dallas. For many years, B. J. was also a member of Walnut Hill United Methodist Church and Friends of the Park Forest Library in Dallas.

B. J. is preceded in death by her parents and her only sibling, R. L. Pyron. She is survived by her husband, Bill R. Andis of Dallas; son, Michael Andis of Dallas; granddaughter, Jessica Lea Andis of Brady, Texas; sister-in-law, GaeNell Pyron of Clinton, Oklahoma; and a host of friends. Visitation will be on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at 2:00 PM at Walnut Hill Methodist Church at 10066 Marsh Lane, Dallas. Entombment will follow in the Abbey Mausoleum at Restland Cemetery.
