Max W. Jones, 88, passed away, Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in Ball
Memorial Hospital.
The son of Clarence and Nora (Dawson) Jones, he was born May 11, 1921 in
Grant County, Indiana.. Max graduated from Eaton High School, class of 1940,
and served his country in the US Navy during WWII. He married Maxine Hiatt
on June 11, 1945 in Star City, Indiana.
Max retired from Warner Gear in 1985 after 29 years of employment.
Before moving to Muncie, Max lived in Eaton. He served on the Eaton
Volunteer Fire Dept. for 20 years, was past-master of the Eaton Lodge #606
F&AM, and was also a member of the O'Leara-Quirk Post #90 American Legion
for over 50 years.
Surviving is his wife of 64 years, Maxine Jones, son, Phillip Jones (wife,
Karen), Franklin, TN, two daughters, Janice Walker (husband, Bill), Muncie,
and Judith McWilliams, Muncie, brother, David Jones (wife, Maxine), Muncie,
a sister Mildred Smoot, Muncie, 8 grandchildren: Douglas Jones (wife, Anna),
Brentwood, TN, Danny Adams (wife, Jennifer), Midthothian, TX, Thomas Adams
(wife, Jennifer), Waxahachie, TX, Susie Navarro (husband, Ernie), Bothell,
WA, Amy Jones, Franklin, TN, Marcy Nora, Bothell, WA, Jaime Taylor (husband,
Mark), White Bluff, TN, and Janet Parten (husband, David), Waxahachie, TX, a
step-granddaughter, Amy Walker-Rodrigues (husband, Jay), Blythe, CA, 19
great-grandchildren, 1 step-great granddaughter, as well as several nieces
and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Clarence and Nora Jones, Max was preceded in
death by a brother Rev. John Paul Jones, in 1994, and a sister Martha Day,
in 2002.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010
in the Pitman Richman Funeral Home, 200 S. Hartford St., Eaton, with his
nephew Rev. Keith Jones presiding. Burial will be made at Union Cemetery,
Eaton.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 19, from 3:00 to
7:00 p.m. and after 12 noon on Saturday.
