Deposition #1

On this 22nd day of September 1884 personally appeared before me Mrs Isabell Sipes well known to me to be respectable and entitled to full faith and credit who being duly sworn according to law deposes and says that she is the claimant as widow of Henry Sipes no. 306442.  That she says that altho time of making her declaration in her pension claim that she alleged the dates of birth of her children from memory.  That she had no family record or other statement of dates that she could be guided by at that time and was compelled to rely on her memory of the same.  That since that time she has obtained the correct dates of birth and wishes to make this affidavit as far as it relates to the allegations in the declaration supplemental to the same that she further states that the correct dates of birth of their children are as follows

Richard N born on the 13 day of Oct 1873
Jonathan born on the 24 day of Jany 1879
William S born on the 23 day of Feby 1868

She further states that the care and custody of William S Sipes (child of her husband by former marriage) has devolved upon the Grand Parents of same since the death of the soldier.
