1) per Wanda Turner (Glade's daughter): "Regarding my father's name: the family has no legal document with an E on it.  My cousin, JB, said it is Eglade and another cousin, Shirley, thought it was E Glade.  My mom, Gladys, wrote Glade E on the back of a picture.  I think he must have used the name with an E at some point in his early life."  update on 25 Jul 2007:  per Wanda Turner: My half-brother James Edward had told several members he was named for grandfather James and his dad Edward Glade Carter. This explains the E in my dad's name.
