July 9, 1926--Horse races at Odon July 15th.

Track is in readiness and preparations all made for the big event.  Thousands are expected.  Barns are filled with horses, large tents have been secured to take care of many while a number of barns over town have also been pressed into service to house the fast horses.  About 70 horses will be ready in the different classes and owners from Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia and Kentucky besides a goodly number from Linton, Washington and local horses.  The big grand stand which seats 1000 people will doubtless be full as the purses are large enough to be very attractive to drivers and horse men are predicting the best races in this section this season.  Local horses are those of Willard and Paul Bowman, Seneff Brothers, John Sims, A.O. Bowman, Ira Bowman and others.

Odon decides on water system by vote.  Whether or not Odon will have a public water system for the town will be decided by every citizen’s vote.  Dr. I. E. Bowman leading the team in favor of such a system stated a strong case in a public meeting last week.  William Bair leads the team opposed to the public water system and he also had his say at eh meeting.  It is doubtful if any minds were changed by the arguments presented as most minds were made up before the meeting started.
