Edward R. Stapleton, 71, of Stafford County, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Stapleton was a member of the Moose Lodge in Fredericksburg. He retired from the Virginia State Department of Corrections.

Survivors include his sister, Lorene LePage of Palm Harbor, Florida; his nephews and nieces, Steven A. Banks and Gregory L. Banks, both of Fredericksburg, Rolanda J. Coghill of Port Royal, Belinda P. Howard of New Church and Michael T. Banks of Stafford; several great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at noon Wednesday, June 30 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel with the Rev. Leslie Powers officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 29 at the funeral home.
