Obituary - Frederick D Hancock

Fred Hancock, 65, of Champaign, formerly of Fairmount, passed at 7:56 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2008, in the emergency room of Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Fred was born July 26, 1942, in Fairmount to George and Georgia Turpin Hancock.

Survivors include his father, George Hancock of Fairmount; his companion of 26 years, Kathy Carlson of Champaign; a sister, Diane (Irvin) Summers of Fairmount; a niece and a nephew.

Fred was a graphic artist, having worked for a time with General Dynamics of Quincy, Mass., designing nuclear submarines. He later joined the office of Planning and Budgeting at the University of Illinois in Champaign, where he worked for 35 years. Fred enjoyed antiques, furniture refinishing and gardening.
