Ivan H. Allen, 91
Ivan H. Allen, a resident of Grey Eagle, died April 1, 2010, at the Long Prairie 
Memorial Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Faith Community Church in Burtrum with the Reverends Dave Sobotka and Roger Schmidt officiating. Burial was at Moses Dane Cemetery near Burtrum.
Ivan Howard Allen was born Feb. 11, 1919, to Harry and Iva (Shutter) Allen in Grey Eagle. He was united in marriage to Alice Raatz Oct. 3, 1939, in Swanville. Ivan farmed in the Burtrum area for many years along with being a bricklayer with his father and brothers. Ivan and Alice moved to Grey Eagle 10 years ago. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and was known for his honesty and integrity. Ivan loved fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union and also a member of Faith Community Church.
Ivan is survived by his wife of 70 years, Alice of Grey Eagle; children Arlie (Ron) Hoffman of Fridley, Gary Allen of Burtrum and Jim (Karen) Allen of Swanville; daughter-in-law Jan Allen of Richmond, Va.; sister Marcella Christian of El Paso, Texas; 10 grandchildren Richard, Kelly, Rusty, Chad, Michael, Bryan, Jennifer, Mathew, Amy and Jon; 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Iva Allen; brothers Harold, Joseph, Lloyd and Ted; daughter-in-law Lorrie Allen; and son Robert "Bob" Allen in March 2009.
Casketbearers were Ivan's grandsons Michael Allen, Bryan Allen, Mathew Allen, Rick Hoffman, Chad Allen and Rusty Allen.
