Lester "Deane" Shutter

Services were held Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 for Lester "Deane" Shutter, 81, of Burtrum, at Faith Community Church, Burtrum with the Rev. Rodger W. Schmidt officiating. Burial was at Moses Dane Cemetery, Burtrum. Military rites were conducted by the Swanville American Legion Post #313.

Pallbearers were Dale Kittleson, Howard Oxendale, Jim Campion, Duane Lentz, Fred Lentz and Darold Mammega. Arrangements were made by the Shelley-Gibson Funeral Chapel, Swanville.

Mr. Shutter died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 at the Owatonna Hospital.

He was born Feb. 12, 1920 in Fort Ripley to Ted and Florence (Nichols) Shutter. He graduated from Burtrum High School in 1938. He served his country in the U. S. Army, 35th Division, from 1942 to 1945, during WWII. He worked in the grocery business for over 30 years. He retired from Lund Foods in 1982. He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, wintering in Texas and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Florence Shutter; four brothers, Ross, Earl, Ashley and Glenn Shutter; and one sister, Myrtle Keller.

Survivors include special friends, Duane and Pat Lentz of Waseca, Lisa Lentz of Rochester, Lori Lentz of Waseca; several nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and friends.
